Beautiful Memories 10th Anniversary Project: Andrea + Nick

Today, Andrea and Nick celebrate their third wedding anniversary as a trio with their son, Blake. If you follow our blog, you may be familiar with Andrea and Nick. We did quite an extensive blog post on the many DIY details from their very colorful wedding and shared a few video clip, including one of the surprise Zumba Andrea did with the girls. Here is a look back at that moment.

So, what have they been up to since their wedding? First and foremost, they became parents. Andrea and Nick are a sweet, super fun, not afraid to be silly couple and they did many fun photos throughout Andrea's pregnancy.

We already knew that Andrea is a crafty and creative gal, but she is also very digitally savvy. She's been dabbling in photography for quite a while now.  With a bit of help from Nick and her mom, she photographed her own maternity pictures.

Along the way, she also documented the growing size of her belly, while holding a chalkboard with some details about the baby's progress, their thoughts and other cool tidbits.

 

When the day finally arrived, they were excited to finally welcome Blake to the world, one week overdue.  It looks like this click happy couple couldn't help themselves.  I'm pretty sure the photo on the top right is a delivery room selfie.  So cute!

Andrea also documented Blake's first year in photographs, month by month to show his growth. This adorable little boy is going to have the most amazing pictures to share with his kids one day, thanks to mom, with a little help from dad. 

When I asked about how their lives have changed since Blake's arrival, Andrea offered the following:

"Our lives have gone from "easy living" do as we please whenever -in regards to going to dinner, hanging out at the ball field, hanging with our friends, running to the store "quick", etc...  It allllll changes...and it's hard and exhausting BUT we also have been shown the true extent of love. Of course we love each other and our bond is still so strong, but the love and bond we have with our little boy is indescribable. Sometimes we can't imagine having another baby because how can we split that attention and love, but then we think we won't be splitting anything.  It'll all just be doubled; the amount of love, the amount of laughs (and tears), the hugs and kisses, etc...

The extreme change in lifestyle and the exhaustion that comes with it is sooooo worth it. Advice to newly married couples looking to start a family: take that trip you've been thinking about, take a random weekend road trip, go grab some drinks some night together because all that gets tricky. That being said, the new highlights are watching his lil face light up when we bring him to the zoo...when he spots the airplane in the sky...when he sees the swings at the park... life is more about the little things...things we never thought would be such a big deal."

So, when I said that Andrea "dabbles" in photography, it may have been an understatement. She has been taking photos for a while.  Below is a sample of her work. 

Since Blake's arrival, she hasn't been able to photograph for others as much as she'd like, but it's all to spend the free time she has with Nick and her beautiful boy.  This just means that Blake becomes the subject of Andrea's photographic creativity whims. Not a bad life for a cute baby.

When not at work, Nick can be found playing on the softball field, taking apart and rebuilding mopeds or putting together things for his son, like his play set and crib.  Andrea has been spending time rehabbing old furniture pieces for the house, like the dresser turned changing table for the nursery, and, of course, she is often crafting.  This fall they will be attending four weddings, for some of which, Andrea is crafting for showers and parties.

I want to end this post with one final thought from Andrea:

"As Blake gets older, it'll fun to show him the wedding video and see his reaction.  He'll probably tell us we can't dance, we kiss too much, mommy's hair is funny looking and the music is horrible, but he'll be able to see that his life all started with true love and happiness.  Not just between us, but by all the family and friends he'll recognize in the video."

Loren + Dan: A Super Fun Lazy Swan Wedding

We are so lucky that we get to film so many weddings within the same family or the same group of friends! Loren and Dan came to us from one of our most favorite groups of friends.  These girls are all so incredibly sweet and such a super fun group to be around.  Their weddings are all unique to the girls and their styles, but the one thing they all have in common is that each wedding is always so much fun and such a blast to film!  This wedding was no exception!

When we got the email from Loren that she was getting married, we were very excited for her.  We'd come to know her and the girls so well that it felt like hearing from a friend.  From the moment we met with her and Dan, we could feel the energy and love between them instantly.  There was a noticeable change in Loren from the girl that we knew from her friend's weddings.  She was still sweet, happy and beautiful, it was just enhanced by Dan.  They are a perfect compliment to each other.  When they left the meeting, I remember commenting to Mike how cute they were together and then promptly emailed Loren to tell her that Dan was a keeper!  You'll see for yourself in the video clip.  Whenever they are near each other, there is such a look of love and complete happiness on their faces!

Andrea + Nick: Colorful Wedding at The Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club Village

Andrea and Nick were married on a beautiful and hot summer day in July.  Their ceremony was sweet, romantic and a bit funny.  Though you won't see it in the clip below, Nick had a close call, almost passing out on the alter. You never realize how hot it can get standing up there for so long under all the lights. What could have easily been a time for panic quickly turned into a group effort to keep Nick comfortable, kept lighthearted by the efforts of family and the bridal party.  His new father-in-law was quick with some water, his groomsmen found chairs for the couple to sit on and his lovely bride Andrea was fanning him with a giant smile on her face to keep him cool and happy. It was a sneak peek into their future of love and support of each other and from their families.

After the ceremony, they were off to celebrate at The Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club Village in Saugherties.  This was our first visit to The Lazy Swan and we hope to film there more often.  It's a stunning venue with beautiful grounds, perfect for taking wedding photos and for your guests to enjoy as they mingle during cocktail hour.  The ballroom is octagonal with a gorgeous octagonal wooden dance floor and an elaborate in-house lighting system that was customized to fit Andera and Nick's colorful theme. The staff was wonderful to work with and the food was phenomenal.  It was the perfect setting for this colorful, glamorous, high-energy celebration.

We absolutely love it when our couples drench their weddings in lovely personal details and Andrea and Nick's colorful DIY details didn't disappoint. Though their main accent color was blue, Andrea wanted a rainbow of vibrant colors and included them everywhere she could from the colorful shoes on herself and her bridemaids to her heart covered cake and all of her DIY details.  Andrea was a bride that paid close attention to every detail and knew the exact look she wanted.  She must have spent hours upon hours on all her DIY projects to achieve it.  Totally worth it!  We're not talking sitting at a printer and letting it do all the work diy.  This girl took it old-school with construction paper, markers, glue, glass beads and other notions. With tunes supplied by Danielle Perry of Music By Danielle and Andrea making the rounds about the dance floor, the guests only left the floor to eat; a much needed refueling to keep that energy going throughout the night.  There were a few surprises along the way, including a set of slideshows to go along with their parent dances and a flash mob styled surprise Zumba performance by the bride and all her girls.  You can watch their Zumba performance here.

We had the pleasure of working alongside one of our favorite photographers, Cheryl of Bolton-Reuter Photography.  With this adorably cute couple, all their personalized details, the fabulous venue and the high energy on the dance floor, there was so much to cover that day.  This is we get giddy with excitement.  We each love capturing all the details, big and small, as well as all the fun.  The cameras never really left our hands that night.  It was so much fun to watch and capture everything and it's always great to work alongside a photographer that gets just as excited about documenting every little thing as we do.  Be sure to check out Cheryl's blog for some really great pictures from this colorful wedding, especially the one taken at night on the green with a glowing heart around Andrea and Nick.  The photos are sweet and sassy and fit their theme perfectly!

Surprise Zumba: Andrea and Nick's Wedding at The Lazy Swan

We always love it when there are surprises for guests or when one of the newlyweds has a surprise for the other.  We've seen choreographed dances from the bride and groom, surprise parent dances, bellydancers, fireworks, musical performances and surprise candy buffets, but this was a first for us!  Andrea surprised her new husband, Nick, with a Zumba performance at their wedding (and she did it wearing those heels!!!).  Her and the girls suddenly took over the dance floor like a flash mob and amazed everyone with their spot on moves!  So much fun!!  Check it out in the video clip below!
